Now that I have blogged all my service project for 2021, I will go back and blog things that I did in 2020 but did not get blogged. I just didn't blog much after Covid hit us. I just started making masks, masks, and more masks. I probably made over 1000 of them. I gave them to family, friends, neighbors, church friends, Primary kids (from church), people who picked up food at the food pantry, teachers, and special orders. I have blogged what they look like in a past post, and I certainly didn't take pictures of all of them, so I will not show any more of them.
Another of the service projects I did last year that I did not take pictures of was starter baskets for new mothers that don't have much money. I filled the baskets with diapers, wipes, toiletries for the baby, receiving blankets, hand knitted hat, and a hand crafted toy, and a little felt book that I also made. These were donated to the hospital like the baby hats and heart pillows that I made in January and February.
I just found pictures of some of the things I put into the baskets. I was pleased to have fleece that matched the animal heads that I knitted. Actually, I decided which animals to knit by the print I had on fleece scraps that I had left over from past projects. I knitted the small head so the baby can grasp onto it and cuddle up with a soft blankie.

These are tabby quilts that I also put in the baskets. Hard to see what they really look like, but they have little loops of ribbon of all sorts of colors and texture all around the sides of the blanket. |
Now for some more projects that I knitted or made in 2020.
These are the knit bags that I made for the ladies in my family for Christmas presents. I also made canvas backpacks or sling bags for the kids in the family and vinyl bags for the men. For some reason, I forgot to take pictures of them, so I cannot show what they looked like.

I made these shirts and dresses for some of the grandchildren during the summer. I am missing pictures again so I cannot show all of them. The
pictures don't really show how the shirts for the boys look western, but
they do have v-shaped yokes and pearl snaps.
I had not made baby things in quite awhile, so when I got the opportunity to make some for a friend who was giving a drop off or mail a present baby shower for her daughter-in-law, I got busy.

Just when I started my 2021 project of making the 72 toys, my son came to me and asked if I had time to make him another play mat set for a friend that was having a baby very soon. I have made play sets for him in the past and he loves to give them to his friends. He pays me to make them, so I don't really mind doing it. He asked for a fish related theme since his friend really loves to fish. I had all the things I needed to make this little whale and fish play mat set. Completed it in less than a week. On the mat, I appliqued a picture of a boy riding on the back of a whale. The top side of the mat has the whale pattern and the back has a fish patterned material. Both are flannel and can be seen in the arches. I knitted four fish of different colors and one whale hanging from the center ring. I made a pouch out of the back material to store the animals when the set is disassembled. As with all my arched play mat sets, the arches can be used as shown, or they can be hung over a crib and used as a mobile.

Christmas ornaments I made for the ornament exchange we had with some of the ladies from my church |
|
Boxes I made to house the ornaments in. I made one set of ornaments for each of the three ladies that I exchanged with. |
I made the ornaments and boxes shown above out of plastic canvas. After I finished them, I decided to make an ornament for each of the families in my neighborhood. That ended up being 33, I think. I did not take pictures of all of them, but they were like the above, and of course, many other different ones. I delivered them a week before Christmas so that they could hang it on their trees. After I finished those, I made a bunch more and gave them to my co-workers at the Westport Food Pantry. It was a fun project. I like doing plastic canvas work.
That about sums it up for my projects from 2020. Hurray! About time.
