Nice surprise!

A friend of mine just called and made a nice order by way of gift certificate for Shirleymade products.  She is going to be a grandma and she is giving a very generous present to her son for his daughter that is on the way.  I'm excited to find out what will be in store for me to make.  One thing I mentioned to her that makes a nice gift is a fringe tied blanket.  I had some material on hand, so I made one right away.  She would like to have some things this weekend because they are visiting from out of the country and will be going back soon.  She will have them look at my site and make some orders that I will have time to get made later.  For now this will have to do.  Here is a picture of the blanket I just made.

Eva, this is for you if you want it.  It is actually more purple than blue.
Be sure to check out the products for sale or order on the side of my blog page.  Also, if you check out the past blogs, you will be able to see many things which I have made and can make.  Thanks Eva.  Your offer is very generous and I appreciate it very much.

I'm excited!

A friend of mine just informed me that she is expecting twins, a boy and a girl.  What great news!  I get so excited when I have someone to make something for, especially babies.  I've already started work on things for the babies, but I will need to keep it a secret for awhile since she isn't due until August.  That's no excuse for me not to be working on projects, though, and I'm already well into it.  Besides that, I have been working on some other things.  I've just completed a ladies cabled shell.  I have no one in mind for it, so I will put it up for sale.  My next plan is to make an exercise mat with some of my left over balls of yarn.  I am beginning to accumulate a lot of left overs that will not be enough to do full projects.  I am going to try to create the pattern on my own, so we will see how it turns out.

This is the shell.  I really need to get some models for some of these things.

It didn't take long.

Well, just when I thought I could just do some projects for the fun of it, I got another request.  That is good, though, because I like doing things for others.   Recently, my grandson, Joey, has become very attached to his sister's two fringe tied baby quilts.  He loves to feel the fringe.  His mother asked me today to make one for him that is more boyish colored.  His sister's quilts are yellow and purple.  I had some plain red, but nothing to go on the reverse side.  I stopped by the fabric store and was thrilled to find a great bargain on team logo fleece.  It was on sale for 30% off.  I was just about to buy some Red Sox fleece when I passed by the remnant rack and found some Red Sox logo fleece sitting right on top.  The best part of it all is that the remnants were also on sale for 50% off.  They honor both sales, so I got the 30% and then another 50% off.  Not a bad deal!  I love it when I happen by a good bargain like that.  Usually, I just miss the sale.  So, another project complete.  I knitted a couple of dish cloths last night and started a woman's ribbed and cabled shell today.  It's fun to do cables again.

I think this should do the trick.  It's definitely more boyish and it has balls on it.  Joey loves balls.

No more monkey business!

I've just completed Joey's monkey.  I decided to cheat a little on this one.  Instead of making the clothes I dressed him up in, I went to the store and bought some new born size clothes and they fit perfectly.  I found a little sun visor for an 18 in. doll and some baby sneakers that were just what I needed to finish the outfit.  Using a little hand stitching, I sewed the shoes and visor in place.  Also, I had to cut a hole in the back of the pants to fit the tail.  I sewed that into place, and now it is all complete.  He looks like he is ready to play ball with Joey, who is a little ball crazy.  Maybe I will knit a soccer ball to go with the monkey.  I will see because I have already knit a ball for Joey.  He probably doesn't need another one.

Ready to play ball.
I guess for awhile, I will just knit some odds and ends projects.  I don't have anything special in plan, so I will just see what I have for patterns that looks fun to do.  I always have to have something going.
